With our music and our life journey, let us reach for the stars; and while on that journey, create a little heaven on earth.

The Flutopia Initiative

The Flutopia Initiative nonprofit organization whose motto is “Flutists inspiring musicians to change the world, one concert at a time”, is a project Cathy founded in 2012 to channel musical performances toward impacting the spirits of community members as well as assisting those with physical needs. What began as a local project has grown to national and international levels with “Play it Forward” concerts benefiting food banks, projects for the homeless, and music education, along with Flutopia runs that boast musicians along the routes and benefiting those without medical insurance. Forever enjoying engaging with children and sharing her flutegarden with families, Cathy has been featured on multiple occasions at PSU Arboretum events. She has been seen leading children in dance and song at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Children’s Garden, or serenading children and adults alike on the grounds.

An International Artistic Ambassador

Since 1985 Cathy has represented the U.S.A. throughout Latin America and the Caribbean as a Fulbright Scholar and artistic ambassador for U.S. embassies; international festivals, while Guest Faculty Lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts Conservatorium; and on tour as soloist, with Camerata Amistad, the Herrera-Register Duo, Australia’s Ensemble Vasse, or the Cornell University Men’s Glee Club. During her concerts and master classes she strives to create a bridge between cultures, and freely share her knowledge, musical heart, and experience.
